Satellite Uplink during Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Basetwo Media providing Satellite Uplink services during the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

VANCOUVER, BC - Jan. 6th, 2010 - The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics are bringing the world to the British Columbia's lower mainland to experience what the region has to offer not only during this historic event, but a location that has gained a reputation as a world-class destination, Canada's Pacific coastal jewel.

During the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, major broadcaster, official and unofficial, from around the world will converge on the lower mainland at the various Olympic venues from Richmond to Whistler. Conviently located directly across the Burrard Inlet from the International Broadcast Centre/Vancouver Convention Centre, our uplink facilites will be connecting the world.

Numerous foreign production entities/news agencies have approached Basetwo Media to provide a unique "Live Hit" shot for them. We have secured the necessary technical facilities needed for such an endeavour. The City of North Vancouver has approved this proposal and is will be able to assist. In the event of inclement weather, alternative covered areas will be on the ready with the ability to provide suitable electronic background images of various locations from around the lower mainland to satisfy our broadcast clients.

If you have journalists and crews descending on Vancouver to cover these Winter Games, and are looking for uplink facilities for quick delivery of your reports, we can offer a unique uplink alternative with an amazing view of downtown Vancouver. It is a hybrid C-band/Ku-band uplink vehicle with the ability to multiplex up to five HD signals simultaneously with full redundancy. Video and Dolby E frame-rate conversion, PAL, NTSC, 720p, 1080i - we can handle it all in either MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 4:2:2. The truck contains an HD production switcher, full Dolby Surround Sound monitoring, fibre optic interconnection in HD-SDI or 70MHz. Separate antennae provide Hi-Speed internet access and HD network return.
