We are just wrapping up a couple of large projects which we mentioned in last month's newsletter, in addition to those mentioned below, which we will be telling you about in the New Year.

We have included summaries of articles from our video production news blog below, and have posted plenty of new 'behind-the-scenes' photos on our Facebook page.

Please note that our offices will be closed for the holidays as of Dec. 19th, to reopen on Jan. 4th, 2010.

Sales Training Videos Produced for BCAA

The BC Automobile Association (BCAA), a not-for-profit member services organization with more than 792,310 members in BC and the Yukon, who provide auto club, insurance and travel, recently hired us to produce a series of training videos for use in training sessions.

The videos involved dramatic recreations of client and staff interactions, focussing on improving customer experiences and coaching.

Scenes were filmed using two cameras over two days at both a BCAA sales branch in West Vancouver and the company’s head office in Burnaby. A teleprompter was used, and a tripod dolly for added production value.

"You guys were amazing. We were just talking about what a great job you all did. Patience was the word that kept coming up", said BCAA’s Dave Wharf, Club/Insurance Learning & Development Specialist.

"Totally professional, on time, and the price was great, especially for what we got in the end. You guys were Awesome!"

We also worked on the project with development consultant Rob Prowse, who said: "Incredible! Highly professional, creative and a real solution-seeking team. You found ways to make sure BCAA received the best possible service. The challenges we faced were opportunities to you… Your team far exceed our expectations."

When asked about how BCAA will ultimately benefit from these videos, Rob went on to say: "The video scenarios helped staff understand the Customer Conversation skills 'in action' which was the ultimate goal."

Promotional Video Produced for Sitemasher

Watch Videos

Sitemasher is a Vancouver based software design firm who are at the leading edge of platform-based tools for web designers.

Designed for service providers, website professionals & large organizations, the platform provides the fastest way to build and deploy custom, niche, and broad market websites.

Sitemasher asked us to create a dynamic and fun promotional video for use on the homepage of their website and in other areas of their marketing strategy. A tight timeline was the order of the day as they needed the video live prior to several large conferences last month.

The video was produced without a hitch and the Sitemasher crew are excited about the fresh addition to their website.

"It was a great experience", said Sean from Sitemasher. "All my expectations were met and [Basetwo Media] was very good at communicating progress and asking questions."

Series of Videos Online for Stonehouse Summit

Watch Video

Last January, we worked with Energyboom Media to document a three-day collaborative workshop on Saltspring Island, dubbed the Stonehouse Initiative after the residence in which it was held.

Throughout the year, the footage was then edited into a series of vignettes which have now all been released on the Stonehouse website.

The project's purpose is to achieve public engagement and political action around the issue of climate change, and to encourage leadership towards a more sustainable future. A diverse group of experts were invited, including David Suzuki.

View image on FacebookFilming was done using 3 Sony EX3 cameras in High Definition XDCAM format, recording both to camera and to a ‘line-cut’ using a Sony Anycast Video Switcher, with a crew of 6.

You can now check out a series of behind-the-scenes photos on our Facebook page, and watch the videos online.

Services Donated for David Suzuki’s Legacy Lecture

Visit website

Last week, audiences at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts witnessed "a turning point in a great thinker's life". In David Suzuki: The Legacy Lecture, Dr. Suzuki shared "a lifetime of lessons learned about our impact on our planet and his hope for the future".

In our on-going support of the David Suzuki Foundation, we offered our services for the event. Interviews were filmed after the lecture to get reactions from audience members, asking how they will respond to Dr. Suzuki having passed on his legacy to all Canadians.

The interviews were filmed in high-definition on a Sony EX-3 with a mini35 adapater and a 50mm lens for increased production value, along with an HVX200 as 'B' camera.

The event itself was also filmed by a separate crew to be incorporated into a documentary being produced by the National Film Board about Dr. Suzuki’s life, set to be released in theatres in 2010.
