Basetwo Media Wins 2 AEGIS Video & Film Production Awards

Aegis Awards

We won two awards in the 2010 AEGIS Awards, one of the oldest and most respected video/film production contests in North America.

Basetwo Media won an award in the cateogry of 'Training & Education' for a multilingual product knowledge DVD we completed earlier this year for AG Hair Cosmetics, producers of high quality shampoo, conditioning, and styling products.

The project was focussed around six videos detailing the different product categories, with demonstrations and tips for use on each of the 48 individual products, including versions in French, Spanish and Mandarin.

We also won an award in the category of 'Promotional & Sales' for our work on a video for Kryton International last year. Learn more about that project in this video case study.

Our AwardsThe Aegis Awards is said to be one of the few video competitions which features true peer judging by fellow industry professionals, most of whom are selected from previous winners. Judging is based on various elements of production (such as shooting, editing, use of music, etc.), with an average ratio of entries to Winners of about 5 to 1.

We are pleased to add these accomplishments to our growing list of awards and to have received recognition for our hard work!

Promotional Video Produced for IVR Technologies

Watch on Vimeo

Basetwo Media was recently asked to produce a promotional video for software development company IVR Technologies in order to demonstrate their award winning Talking SIP platform, an application, media and billing server that powers some of the largest and most recognized networks around the world.

The product itself is 'virtual' and the company has no physical offices, making the project a challenge. We also had a fairly tight timeline, needing to complete the video within 2 weeks for use at an upcoming tradeshow.

Stock footage, custom motion graphics and a professional voice-over were used to complete the presentation. See the final video on Vimeo.

How Video Production is Budgeted

While costs for video production can be roughly estimated as a cost 'per finished minute', generally they are actually billed at hourly or daily rates.

The challenge, and something that can only be learned through experience, is in properly estimating the amount of work which will be required.

From pre-production through to post-production, this latest article explores how the work involved in producing a video is first estimated and how video production is budgeted to avoid cost overruns...
